NEWYORK: The International Milad Council and Allama Iqbal Community organized the first annual procession to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi of Prophet Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM).
A large number of participants from different parts of New York gathered at Tayaba Islamic Center and the procession was started with recitation of Holy Quran.
The procession was moderated by Mufti Sajjad Madani of Allama Iqbal Community Center who welcomed the participants on their arrival.
Addressing participants, Allama Iqbal community’s leaders Malik Nasir Awan, Tahir Bhatta, youth leader Hassan Nasir Awan said it is the promise of the Allah Almighty that name of Prophet Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM) will remain high in all times.
Naat Khawan recited Naats in respect of Prophet Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM) during the procession.
Before the departure of the procession and car rally organized on the occasion of Eid Milad un Nabi, scholars and others visitors expressed their gratitude with Allama Iqbal Community Center, Tayaba Islamic Center and others and also prayed for the acceptance of this effort. On this occasion, Pir Syed Safdar Hussain Shah, the founder of Anjuman-i Ghousia, prayed at the beginning of the procession.
The procession later proceeded from the Tayyaba Islamic Center to Makki Masjid while reciting Durood- o-Salam.
The participants of the procession were also waving green flags in their hands. When the procession and car rally reached its destination at Coney Island Avenue Makki Masjid the participants were warmly welcomed.
Ulema and scholars also addressed on the occasion and highlighted the life and teaching of prophet Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM). They said that the Eid Milad un Nabi was being celebrated at every part of the world.
Organizers of the procession and Allama Iqbal community center’s founder Malik Nasir Awan and his son Hasan Nasir Awan presented awards to the New York Police officers recognizing their services.
Later, before the end of the procession, the participants recited Darood-o-Salam and prayers were also offered for the progress, prosperity and success of the Muslim Ummah.
