NEW YORK: Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) the largest organization in the field of health in the United States consisting of Pakistani-American doctors, (New York Chapter) organized the spring meeting and the Eid Millan party at the Hilton Garden in Staten Island, New York.
The ceremony was started with recitation of Holy Quran. After the recitation, Dr. Naheed Anjum first presented the national anthem of the United States and then the national anthem of Pakistan, which was also sung by all the participants.
Prominent personalities of the Pakistani-American community, members of various social organizations, doctors and large number of people attended the Eid meeting.
APPNA’s New York Chapter secretary Dr. Sadaf Sheikh hosted the event. The special guest and Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Amir Ahmad Atuzai said that Pakistani doctors of APPNA have not only rendered valuable services in the health sector but also made the young doctors successful by guiding them in the education of medical science.
APPNA New York Chapter president Dr. Shamim Salman, Dr. Tariq Jameel, Dr. Javed Rashid, former president Arshad Anwar, Dr. Parvaiz Iqbal, Dr. Hasan Dogar and others also participated in the ceremony and welcomed the guests upon their arrival.
Consul General Amir Ahmad Atuzai said that resolving the problems of Pakistani community has always been one of the top priority of the consulate and consulate will try to work with doctors.
Dr. Shamim Salman explained the aims and objectives of APPNA and its performance in detail.
She said that presence of guests have made this event successful. She said that although she is president of APPNA but no work can be done without any teamwork.
President Dr. Shamim Salman thanked her team and especially the doctors of Staten Island. She said that our young doctors are very capable and talented and APPNA is fully supporting them to move forward.
On the ocassion Dr. Rizwan invited Dr. Hasan Dogar.He said that recently APPNA has developed portal to guide doctors and medical students from which they could be benefited. He said that Young Physicians Program will be held in the last week of May.
Dr. Rizwan Naeem said that APPNA has provided accommodation facilities for the young doctors who came for training purposes. He also provided suggestions and useful to the medical science students regarding their permanent stay and better future in the USA.
Dr. Hasan Dogar thanked all members of APPNA for guiding the young doctors and medical students. He said that this year will be very important and busy and the Young Physicians Program will play an important role for the youth.
The doctors who participated in the spring meeting and the Eid Millan consulted on many important issues, exchanged their suggestions and also created various programs regarding the training and guidance of the youth in the future.
APPNA member Dr. Parvaiz Iqbal appreciated the community service of Pakistan Consul General Amir Ahmed Atuzai in New York. He said that it is expected with the presence of Amir Ahmed Atuzai that the problems faced by the community will be solved immediately.
Earlier, an awareness session on various diseases was also held at the beginning of the ceremony, in which experts spoke about lung cancer.
On this occasion, Dr. Parvaiz Iqbal gave a briefing on lung damage due to smoking and cancer due to continuous carelessness. He said that due to frequent smoking 35-year-old people are also suffering from lung cancer.
At the end of event, musical concert was also arranged in which young singer sung the song of famous Ustad Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan. The participants entertained by the singing and appreciated the performance of the young singer.
