NEW YORK: US Congressman Jamaal Bowman once again became the voice of the oppressed Palestinians and said that there should be an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Addressing a meet and greet event organized by American Pakistan Public Affairs Committee at Khawar Baig’s residence, Congressman Jamaal Bowman said that his struggle is for freedom, justice and equality rights.
Congressman Jamaal Bowman, the guest of the event and elected from New York’s Congressional District 16, appealed for the vote for the primary election on June 25.
Jamaal Bowman said that there should be an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, release of hostages not only in Gaza but also in West Bank. He said that relief goods should be immediately provided to people of Gaza who were facing famine like situation.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Prominent personalities of the American community participated in the event. APPAC chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed said that most of the members of Congress are pro-Israel and not everyone was raising their voice for the people of Gaza. He lauded the Jamaal Bowman’s struggle and efforts for human rights.
Host of the event Khawar Baig said that every Muslim is sad about the situation in Gaza while 17% of young Americans were raising their voice on the Gaza issue but our administration was not showing seriousness.
Other participants of the event also appreciated Jamaal Bowman’s style of politics. They said that Jamal Bowman does not do politics for personal interest but on the basis of human rights, justice and equality.
The host of the event Khawar Baig urged the Pakistani community to vote for Jamaal Bowman in the upcoming June primary election. At the end of the meet and greet event, participants assured the Congressman of the Pakistani community’s strong support in the election.
