New York city council speaker Julie Menin, APAG celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day at city council

NEWYORK: New York City Council’s speaker Julie Menin and members in collaboration with American Pakistan Advocacy Group celebrated 79 th Pakistan Independence Day for the first time in history of city council with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthems of Pakistan and the United States.

Prominent figures from various sectors of the Pakistani American community participated in the Independence Day ceremony.

City Council Speaker Julie Menin, Councilwoman Linda Lee and other council members addressed and congratulated the Pakistani community on Independence Day.

Members of the Pakistani community dressed in green and white proudly hoisted the green crescent flag at the City Council.

Consul General of Pakistan in New York Amir Ahmed Atuzai addressed the participants and appreciated the strong relations between Pakistan and the United States and the services of the Pakistani American community.

The Pakistani American community associated with political, social and business circles participating in the ceremony praised APAG’s efforts in organizing the Independence Day ceremony at the City Council.

APAG President Ali Rashid said that his wife’s role in his success is exemplary, and Pakistan’s civilization and culture have been inspiring to the entire world.

Addressing the participants of the Independence Day ceremony, social figures Mohammad Rizvi and Baza Roohi highlighted the role of the Pakistani community. They said that the Pakistani American community has fulfilled its civic and national responsibility in every difficult situation.

APAG’s Youth Wing Farhan Rashid and Tehmina Khan also expressed their views. They said that Pakistanis living in different countries around the world have proven their ability and potential in different fields.

During the ceremony, citations and awards were also presented to personalities who have rendered outstanding services in various fields, including Ali Rashid, Mohammad Rizvi, Zakaria Khan and Baza Roohi, in recognition of their services.

The City Council members participating in the ceremony paid tribute to the efforts of APAG.

The young singer also captivated the audience by performing the famous song Dil Dil Pakistan.
