PASWO sets up food pantry for low-income families

NEWYORK: The Pakistani American Skilled Women Organization in New York has completed six years of its weekly food pantry. This time, the food pantry also distributed Halal turkey on the occasion of Thanksgiving Day.

The social organization of Pakistani women, PASWO, set up its weekly food pantry on Ditmas Avenue in Brooklyn to help the low income families.

The food pantry also distributed turkey along with other daily necessities on Thanksgiving Day.

Muslim Liaison at the Mayor’s Office Atiya Shahnaz and PASWO President Shaheen Khokhar said that the life of the low-income class has become very difficult due to the closure of food stamps and inflation, and they appeal to the government to pay attention to this crisis.

The low-income families gathered outside the PASWO office in a que before opening of the food pantry. Various American officials, Councilwoman Farah Louis, Nancy Lulu from the District Attorney’s Office, and Pakistani consulate staff also participated and distributed the goods.

A large number of people of low-income families benefited from the food pantry. The speakers appreciated the social activities of the Pakistani American Skilled Women Organization.

PASWOI team members and volunteers participated actively in the social activity. They said that there is no substitute for the happiness that comes from helping the people in need.

The Pakistani American Skilled Women Organization says that it will continue its journey of serving humanity without discrimination of color or race.
