APNA Adult day care confers awards to Pakistani-origin police officers, journalists in recognition of their services

NEWYORK: APNA Adult Day Care organized an event in honor of Pakistani-origin officers and journalists posted in the New York Police Department and confered awards to them in recognition of their services.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthems of the United States and Pakistan.

The ceremony was moderated by Samreen Hussain. APNA CEO Pervaiz Siddiqui said that APNA Community Center did a great job in the recent Mayor elections and we considered it important that the services of people associated with community services be appreciated.

APNA’s executive director Shazia Wattoo said that this day care center is not just an institution but also our second home and every person here is a family member for us.

The ceremony was attended by senior citizens residing in the day care center, staff members, and business and social figures of the community.

APNA Community Center CEO Iram Hanif said that building any institution is not easy. She said that we have informed the voters individually that it is the time to move forward with collective efforts.

The first Pakistani-origin officer posted in the New York Police Department Inspector Adeel Rana and senior journalist and social worker Moaviz Asad Siddiqui were conferred an award for community services, while other guests were presented with bouquets. A senior member of the center was given the award for best member.

Inspector Adeel Rana and Moawiz Siddiqui said that this center is the best center for introducing the community to each other, helping them and solving problems, always help each other in moving forward.

Earlier, police officers, journalists and other community figures participating in the ceremony also expressed their views. The speakers said that we should prioritize collective interest over individualism.

A cake was also cut to celebrate the victory of the newly elected Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
