NEWYORK: Pakistan has called upon the Afghan interim government to uphold their international obligations and commitments.

Speaking at Interactive Dialogue with Special Rapporteur on situation of human rights in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s Counsellor Mohammad Jawad Ajmal said Pakistan remains committed to a stable and prosperous Afghanistan for lasting peace and stability.

He said terrorism emanating from Afghanistan remains the gravest threat to our national security and safety of our citizens.

Mohammad Jawad Ajmal said like any sovereign state, Pakistan will exercise its right and duty to regulate its borders and will not compromise on our national security.

He said terrorist entities including ISIL-K, TTP Fitna Al Khwarij, BLA and Majeed Group operate from Afghan sanctuaries with terrorist camps serving as hubs for enabling cross border infiltration and attacks.

He said Pakistan remains seriously concerned about the Taliban’s discriminatory policies, practices and restrictive measures that exclude women and girls from their right to education and employment.
