NEWYORK: Mary Perry Punjab won the Long Island United T20 Cup organized by the Long Island United Cricket Club.
The Long Island United T20 Cup organized by the Long Island United Cricket Club has come to an end, in which local teams presented excellent games.
The tournament was organized on Labor Day weekend, in which the best teams participated.
Founder member of the Long Island United Cricket Club Asim Malik said that the aim of organizing this tournament every year is to promote cricket at the local level and keep boys connected with physical activities.
Consul General of Pakistan in New York Amir Ahmed Atuzai, who was invited as chief guest, congratulated the organizers on holding the successful tournament and called such events welcome for the community.
Long Island United Cricket Club Manager Asim Khizr introduced the organizers and informed them about the aims and objectives of the event.
Founding member of the Long Island Cricket Club Babar Zia said that the club has been organizing cricket events in Long Island, New York, for the past twenty-five years and through this club we are working to promote health-enhancing activities by attracting the youth of the community to the sport.
The captain of the Long Island United Cricket Club said that such events not only promote cricket in local communities but also provide the youth with an opportunity to benefit from the positive effects of sports.
The participants of the match and other members paid tribute to the valuable effort of Malik Asim and the club.
In the final, Mary Perry Punjab won the final by showing an outstanding performance, while Gujarat Stallions were in second place. The winning team Meri Perry Punjab was awarded a cash prize of seven thousand dollars and a trophy.
All the players of the winning team were also awarded medals. The runner-up team Gujarat Stallions was awarded $2,500 and a trophy. Special awards were also presented to all sponsors at the ceremony.
This event held in Long Island proved to be an important milestone for the promotion of local cricket and provided great entertainment to cricket fans.
