Pakistan’s independence day celebrated with enthusiasm at Coney Island Avenue

NEWYORK: Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day was celebrated at Coney Island Avenue, famously known as little Pakistan in New York, with national enthusiasm. Police officers of Pakistani origin in the New York Police Department marched with Mayor Eric Adams and also hoisted the Pakistani flag.

The social organization Pakistani American Youth Organization arranged a barbecue party for the community outside its office at Coney Island Avenue, which was attended by a large number of the community.

PAYO President Wakeel Ahmed, along with the team and volunteers, first raised the American flag and then the Pakistani flag.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Pakistani-origin officers in the Police Department marched and reached the Sweetness Restaurant.

The national anthems of the United States and Pakistan were sung with the hoisting of the flags.

Addressing participants, Mayor Eric Adams congratulated the Pakistani community on Independence Day, saying that Pakistani-origin officers in the New York Police Department have played an important role in protecting citizens and preventing crime.

On this occasion, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke said that as an immigrant she  can feel joy and emotions very well. Later, Mayor Eric Adams raised the national flags of the United States and Pakistan in the air.
