NEW YORK: The Hampstead Town Board and Department of Community Affairs of Nassau County, New York, in collaboration with Pakistani American Community of Long Island PACOLI celebrated Asian American heritage month.
The colorful ceremony to celebrate the culture of Asian Americans, in collaboration with the PACOLI, Hampstead Town Board Supervisor Don Clavin, and the Department of Community Affairs, began with the American national anthem.
The event was hosted by Zahid Syed, Director of the Department of Community Affairs of the Hampstead Town Board, while Asim Malik, General Secretary of PACOLI, also promoted the ceremony.
Members of Pakistani, Bangladeshi and other communities performed a wonderful cultural dance in their own unique style, which greatly delighted the participants.
PACOLI’s Salman Sheikh along with his colleagues warmed everyone’s hearts by dancing Bhangra in the traditional Punjabi style.
Pakistan’s Consul General in New York Aamir Ahmed Atuzai could not attend due to his busy schedule, however his citation was received by Asim Malik.
The PACOLI team worked hard to decorate the colorful ceremony due to which the participants thoroughly enjoyed every segment.
Addressing participants, PACOLI President Humayun Shabbir and Azra Dar said that Nassau County is a bouquet of different nationalities and we all have to enhance its beauty together.
Representatives and prominent personalities of different communities participating in the ceremony were also awarded certificates of appreciation.
