International poetic symposium held in Schaumburg

CHICAGO: The grand international poetic symposium of the city of Chicago was held at the international Indian hub, Schaumburg.

A prominent figure in the list of poets of present era and a member of the India’s Rajya Sabha, the 34-year-old young poet Imran Pratapgarhi, who is also an internationally renowned poet and speaker, participated in the event as the special guest.  He is also known as an Urdu poet and speaker all over the world.

President of the poetic symposium Iftikhar Sharif named the festival as “evening of unity”.

A large number of national and international poets participated in the international poetic symposium, which is held every year in the suburbs of Chicago, under the auspices of Iftikhar Sharif.

Poets from India, Canada, America, Pakistan and other local poets presented their poems and received great appreciation from the audience.

Poets from India, especially Haya Lata, Sohail Zarar from London and Noor Amrohvi from Dallas, Texas were also part of the poetic symposium. Local poets were also part of the program, Kashif Haider, Dr. Latif Saif, Nazar Naqvi, Mehboob Ali Khan were part of the Mushaira. The entry fee for the International poetic symposium was only $20 to $50. The host of the Mushaira was Ashar Mehdi.

Reflecting civilization and culture, recognizing the literary and cultural activities of Chicago, the international poetic symposium was organized with great fanfare for the promotion of the Urdu language, in which renowned poets from home and abroad enthralled the audience with their poetry. Everyone enjoyed the poetry of Imran Pratapgarhi and Lata Haya.

Former Indian Ambassador Ausaf Saeed and chief guest Iftikhar Sharif expressed their opinion on the importance of international poetic symposium.  Rajya Sabha member from India Imran Pratapgarhi mesmerized the audience with his poetry.

A large number of people came from the city and its suburbs to the international poetic symposium that continued till late at night in the heart of India.

Later, the poets and the audience further exchanged ideas and met each other. The participants of the poetic symposium said that such events not only promote Urdu literature but also create harmony between different cultures. The participants considered this occasion as an important step for the promotion of Urdu literature and poetry and expressed hope for organizing more such events in the future.
