FRISCO TX: The North Texas Islamic Council held its quarterly meeting at the Islamic Center of Frisco bringing together leaders from over 60 Islamic schools, Masajids, and the Muslim organizations across the Dallas Forth Worth metroplex.
The gathering themed “unity, wisdom and purpose: our response to challenges of today” centered around empowering the DFW Muslim community through education, civic and interfaith management and strategic collective action.
A highlight of the meeting was keynote address that addressed the growing need to confront rising Islamophobia through education, engagement, unity and the resilience.
“Islamophobia is real. Whether it comes through biased media narratives, unjust policies or violent hate crimes-it affects our children, our elderly, our Masajids and our identity. But we must remember; fear and ignorance are defeated not by silence, but by knowledge, engagement and unity,” said NTIC President Mujeeb Kazi.
Mujeeb urged the DFW Muslim community to embrace the prophetic model of Shura (consultation), promoting collective wisdom over isolated efforts.
“Solo flights may look impressive for a moment but only the united formation reaches the destination. When we act as one, we are stronger, more effective and more respected,” he said.
Mujeeb asked the participants of the event to educate fellow Americans about the contributions of Muslims as law-abiding citizens, professionals and neighbors.
“We are not outsiders. We are part of the American fabric. And we must continue telling our story in schools, in media, in boardrooms and public offices,” Mujeeb said.
The speakers of the event emphasized the importance of the political engagement. The NTIC recognized the value of objective-based endorsements and thanked those who support candidates not just emotionally, but strategically and financially.
“We need representation that reflects our values and advocates our rights-not just during campaign season, but after the votes are counted,” former president of Islamic society of North America Azhar Azeez said.
In response to external challenges and attacks on the community, NTIC leaders stressed the need for strategic, dignified and intelligent responses, emphasizing coalition-building and legal advocacy.
To carry forward the momentum of the gathering, NTIC announced the formation of a task force focused on amplifying the contributions of the American Muslims and creating sustainable platforms for community development and visibility.
The meeting reaffirmed NTIC’s commitment to unity, wisdom and purposeful action with a shared belief that through collaboration, the DFW Muslim community can help build a stronger, more inclusive society for all Americans and re-write the American Muslim narrative.
