NEWYORK: Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Munir Akram, Consul General and other diplomatic staff have said that India cannot suppress the freedom struggle of Kashmiris through force.
The speakers demanded that the Kashmir issue be resolved in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
A special event was organized at the Pakistan Consulate in New York to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people and expose Indian atrocities on Kashmir Day.
The event reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to supporting the just struggle of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) for their inalienable right to self-determination.
Addressing participants, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, said that the Kashmir issue demands the attention of the international community and it is clear from the UN resolutions that the decision on Kashmir should be made according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The Kashmir Solidarity Day ceremony was attended by Saudi and Turkish diplomats, Pakistani Americans and people from different walks of life, including the Kashmiri community.
Pakistan’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmed said that the Pakistani nation has a promise to the Kashmiri people that they will continue to support their Kashmiri brothers and sisters at every forum.
Addressing participants, Consul General Aamir Ahmed Atozai said that India is continuously violating human rights in occupied Kashmir and human rights organizations and international observers are also witnessing that India is using force illegally.
The speakers at the event also expressed their views and drew attention to the Kashmir issue. The speakers said that Kashmir issue cannot be resolved without giving the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
The participants of Kashmir Solidarity Day reiterated their resolve that they will stand by the Kashmiri people in their struggle and support them at any level.
