NEWYORK: Sohni Watan Gilgit-Baltistan USA celebrated Gilgit Baltistan Day at local hotel of New York with great favor and enthusiasm.
The program was initiated with recitation of Holy Quran. Moderating the event, Noor Pamiri said that there was a lot of scope for promoting tourism and culture of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Apart from Gilgit, a large number of Pakistani American community members also participated in the event.
Addressing participants, the head of the organization, Naseem Gilgiti, explained the aims and objectives of the organization and welcomed all the guests on their arrival.
He said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have made Pakistan famous everywhere in the world.
The special guest, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Gulbar Khan, his cabinet ministers and Pakistan’s Consul General in New York Amir Ahmed Atuzai were warmly welcomed upon their arrival.
Addressing participants, Chief Minister Gulbar Khan and Consul General Amir Ahmed said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan are very sincere and hospitable.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Day ceremony was attended by heads of various organizations of the Pakistani American community, including Pervez Siddiqui, Shazia Wattoo, Samreen Hussain and others.
The speakers said that all of us should create opportunities for our young generation to move forward in education and other fields.
The people of Gilgit-Baltistan also celebrate Gilgit-Baltistan Day as Pakistan Accession Day. This beautiful ceremony featured a musical gathering in which local singers performed the magic of their voices.
Pakistani-American officers of New York Police, Inspector Adeel Rana, Deputy Inspector Misbah Noor, political, social, and business figures from the community also participated in the event.
The speakers said that there is a need to remain united in community cooperatives and that one must visit Gilgit-Baltistan at least once.
The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Tim of the Greek community, who has invested in various projects in Gilgit-Baltistan, the first female commercial pilot from Chitral, Lakshan Bibi, renowned social worker Samina Haider and others.
The speakers said that the land of Gilgit-Baltistan is not only beautiful but also very fertile in producing capable and intelligent people.
On this occasion, a short documentary was also shown to highlight the importance of tourism and culture of Gilgit-Baltistan. Later, Sohni Watan Gilgit-Baltistan presented awards and certificates of appreciation to various personalities for their outstanding achievements and community services.
