NEWYORK: Pakistani community businessman and social personality in New York Khawar Baig said that Pakistani Tehrik-e-Insaf is the biggest political party of Pakistan and supporting PTI’s founder Imran Khan should not be a crime.
Addressing a press conference after arrest of his brother Mirza Sohail Baig in Sialkot Pakistan, Khawar Baig, who is also Pakistan Day Parade New York committee’s co-chairman, said that overseas Pakistanis are Pakistan’s asset who always kept high the flag of the country in America.
He said that Pakistani police raided at house of his brother in Sialkot and arrested his brother despite he has no criminal record.
Khawar Baig said that overseas Pakistanis have always raised the prestige of Pakistan and this time too we took out PTI’s float in the Pakistan Day parade and it became an issue.
He said that everyone should have the freedom to join any political party they want and political differences should not become a source of revenge.
Pakistan Day parade committee’s board of trustees Asad Chaudhry said that our identity in America should not be a political party, but only Pakistani.
Business and social figures of the community, Pervez Riaz, Zameer Chaudhary, Naveed Waraich, Syed Waseem and others also attended the press conference.
The speakers were of the view that we are patriotic Pakistanis and overseas Pakistani may have affiliation of any political party but Pakistan is the first priority of the Pakistanis.
Co-Chairman of Pakistan Day Parade New York Committee Mirza Khawar Baig further said overseas Pakistani have always put the Pakistan’s interest first at every forum either it is issue of Kashmir, flood situation or other matter. He said that we have also tried to improve the health and education sectors during the recent visit.
