NYC Mayor Adams’ top officials houses raided by FBI

NEWYORK: Federal Bureau of Investigation FBI has raided the houses of top officials close to New York city Mayor Eric Adams.

The raids are reportedly part of an ongoing investigation, which may be related to possible financial corruption and abuse of power.

The FBI raided the houses of two of New York city Mayor Eric Adams’ top officials, deputy mayor for public safety Philip Banks III and first deputy mayor Sheena Wright.

Philip Banks’ house is situated at Queens while Sheena Wright’s house is situated in Manhattan which she share with New York city schools chancellor David Banks.

FBI agents seized a number of documents and electronic devices during the search of these houses.

The purpose of the operation is to investigate the business and political dealings of these officials to determine whether there has been abuse of office or any form of financial corruption.

The raids can be a major problem for Mayor Adams’ administration as allegations against his close associates can be damaging to his political reputation.

Details about the allegations are limited at this time, and no detailed statement has been released by the FBI or the mayor’s office.

Chief City Hall Councilor Lisa Zorenberg said in a statement that investigators have not yet indicated whether the mayor or his staff are the direct targets of the investigation. Zorenberg said that Mayor Adams has always stressed that all members of his team must abide by the law.

These raids were conducted after one years when Mayor Adams electronic devices were seized by FBI during Mayor Adam’s efforts for funds raising campaign and possible links with foreign powers.
