HOUSTON: Ashra e Muharram was also being observed with traditional devotion and respect in the city of Houston, USA.
Remembering the eternal sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain, RA the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM), a procession was taken out in Houston on Ashra Muharram in which mourners including women and children participated in large numbers.
Scholars and preachers shed light on the teaching of Hazrat Imam Hussain RA and his great sacrifice at Karbala.
The Ashra procession organized by Anjuman Pasban Uzza started from downtown Houston and ended at the City Hall.
On this occasion, Tazia, Alam and Taboot were raised, while participants were got witnessed Zul Jinah at the procession.
Speaking on the occasion, Allama Ishrat Abbas Jafari said that Imam Hussain (RA) did not pledge allegiance to Yazid in Karbala and due to this great act not only he protected the religion but he gave the message to entire Ummah to not bow down against the oppressor, resist and even die for the truth.
Houston’s central Imambargah President Ahsan Zaidi said that since last 24 years, the Ashura procession had been taking out in Houston and the aim of such procession was to promote the message of Imam Hussain (RA) in the future generation.
Well-known social leaders and Republican candidate from Fort Bend County Ali Shekhani, Secretary General of Pakistani American Association of Greater Houston Syed Amir Zaidi, former member of Sindh Assembly Haji Anwar Naqvi, constable Precinct 3 Nabeel Shaikh, social personality Imtiaz Ahsan and others also attended the procession.
On this occasion, cold water, juices and food stalls were also arranged by various associations and individuals.
A heavy contingent of Houston police was also deployed on the route of procession.
