Kashmiri community holds condolence reference for Roman Sajid

NEWYORK: Kashmiri community organized a condolence reference in New York for young Roman Sajid, who was martyred in the Gaza protest camp accident in Islamabad.

A large number of community members including Khalid Mehmood, grandfather of late Roman Sajid and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Inayat Khan participated in the condolence reference held in Brooklyn, New York under the auspices of the Kashmiri community. The program started with the recitation of Holy Quran.

Addressing the participants, Khalid Mehmood, the grandfather of the late Ruman Sajid, said that the incident took place on May 20 when influential figures drove a vehicle on the protest camp set up for Gaza, as a result of which 2 people were martyred, including his grandson. He demanded the government of Pakistan to provide justice as soon as possible.

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Inayat Khan said that the protesters were peacefully protesting against the genocide in Gaza, and running a vehicle over them is amount to trampling Palestinian children. He said that FIR of the incident has not been lodged and demanded that case be registered against responsible persons and matter be referred to court of the law for expeditious justice.

Participants in the condolence reference expressed their regret over the incident and said that it is a pity that such an incident has happened in an Islamic country like Pakistan, and this cruelty on innocent children should be accounted for.

Later, prayers were also offered for the high status of the martyrs.
