State of New Jersey holds Iftar reception for Muslim community

NEW YORK: An Iftar reception was held in Trenton under the auspices of the State of New Jersey. The Office of the Attorney General, the New Jersey State Police, the New Jersey Homeland Security Office, and the Muslim Officer Society, a representative organization of police officers, played a special role in organizing the Iftar reception.

Attorney General Matthew J Plotkin hosted the Iftar at the New Jersey Trenton War Memorial. Addressing participants, Attorney General said that we are feeling proud to host first Ramadan Iftar at department of law and public safety.

Congratulating Muslim community on the eve of Ramadan, he said that anti-Muslim bigotry will not be tolerated in our state. At the Iftar dinner, members of the Muslim Officer Society, including President Adeel Rana, the representative organization of police officers in the New York Police Department, and their relatives, dignitaries of community and US officials also  attended the Iftar reception.

On the occasion of Iftar, the Maghrib congregational prayers were offered. In the ceremony, Muslim American Police Officer Zaki congratulated the Muslims on the month of Ramadan, while the top officials of New Jersey Police also congratulated the Muslim community on the month of Ramadan.
