NEW YORK: US Congressman Adriano Espaillat said that the issues of immigrants were a serious problem and there was a need for reforms in immigration laws adding that the temporary protected status period should be extended.
New York’s 13th congressional district Congressman Espaillat expressed these views during an event at a local hotel organized in his honor by Charles C. Destefano, Robinson Iglesias, and Sadia Malik. The hosts welcomed their guest, Congressman Adriano Espaillat.
The General Secretary of the Pakistan Civic Association, Sadia Malik, has appealed to Congressman Adriano Espaillate to pay attention to expediting the pending cases of immigration as soon as possible.
The participants of the event asked the Congressman questions on various issues and drew his attention to the problems being faced by them. The congressman said that anyone who commits a crime cannot be supported but immigrants generally avoid breaking the law.
Prominent personalities from the political, social, and business sectors from Staten Island also participated in the event. Later, in a conversation with Voice of South Asia, Congressman Adriano Espaillat said that the issue of immigrants is a serious problem that needs for reforms in immigration laws. He said that the period of TPS should also be extended.
Talking to VOSA, Sadia Malik said that Congressman Adriano Espaillat will get our full support in the next election, we have drawn his attention to solving the problems of immigrants.
The participants of the event said that they are hopeful that the Congressman’s requests will not only be discussed in the US House but will also try to resolve them.
