The  Chief patron of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) and former Legislator, Professor Bhim Singh, has expressed shock on the statement of Indian Home Minister, Amit Shah, that situation is returning back to normalcy in Kashmir.

He said, “If it is so, shall the Government of India tell the Parliament what was the necessity of bringing policemen from the neighbouring States to Jammu and Kashmir and why the educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir and particularly in the Valley, have remained shut for more than three months?”

Also,  the occupied Kashmir chapter of Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) has said that despite normalcy claims of the Indian government, political activities in the territory stand ceased since August 5 while lockdown continues despite passing of three and half months.

A CPI-M spokesperson in a statement said, “Political activists, who were detained after August 5, continue to remain incarcerated. Usually normalcy is linked to vibrant political activities which have come to a complete halt now. There are reports that prominent detained political leaders, who were shifted to MLA Hostel from Centaur Hotel, are being ill-treated.”

Former Jammu and Kashmir governor N N Vohra said the extent of academic loss in the union territory was huge and it brought bad reputation to the valley.

“Most of all, what has been the biggest loss in the last 10-20 years, I was there, is the loss of schooling, loss of college going children, loss of university going children. We have an agriculture university, a state university, a central university, and we have a national institute of technology. I can’t tell you the extent of academic loss,” said Vohra, who was the governor of the erstwhile state between 2008-18.

“I talk about local children, whether they are children of apple growers, clerks in the secretariat, truck drivers or those running shops at Lal Bazaar area.

Vohra also highlighted importance of keeping up the morale and dignity, particularly, of the state police and to have trust on their operational capability.

On the other hand, Pakistan has called upon the international community to become the voice of the oppressed Kashmiri children of Indian Occupied Kashmir.

In a statement on the occasion of Universal Children Day, the Foreign Office Spokesperson urged India to immediately stop its illegal and inhuman policies and practices that are in contravention of its own obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Meanwhile,  The  Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) organized a camp in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, to protest against unrelenting lockdown imposed by Indian authorities in occupied Kashmir.

The one-day camp with a banner titled “108 Day of Curfew in Occupied Kashmir” was organized in front of European Union’s External Action Service at Schuman Square in EU’s headquarters, Brussels.

During the camp, the organizers distributed brochures highlighting the Kashmir dispute and the prevailing grim situation due to continued restrictions and grave human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.
