103 people killed, 141 injured in deadly bomb blast in Kerman

Kerman, Iran: Two separate explosions left 103 people killed and 141 injured in the Iranian city of Kerman, according to Iranian news agency IRNA.

Reports said that the first blast took place 700 meters away from Martyr General Qassem Soleimani’s tomb and the second explosion happened one kilometer away from it.

Numerous people were taking part in the fourth martyrdom anniversary of General Soleimani in his city of Kerman when the blasts occurred.

The explosions dispersed mourners from Kerman’s cemetery and ambulances rushed to deliver the injured to hospitals in the city.

Supreme Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has issued a message on the martyrdom of dozens of people in a terrorist attack in the southeastern city of Kerman, warning “criminals” of punishment and a hard response over the tragedy they caused.

The evil and criminal enemies of the Iranian nation once again caused a tragedy, leaving a large number of people martyred, the Supreme Leader said in his message.

He noted that the hard-hearted criminals could not stand people having respect and enthusiasm toward Martyr Qassem Soleimani. But, he added, they should realize that the followers of the “bright path” of Soleimani will not tolerate their vileness and crimes either.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the perpetrators will definitely be the target of a just punishment, and will receive a hard response for the tragedy they caused. The Supreme Leader also expressed sympathy with the families of the victims of the attack.

President Ebrahim Raisi has strongly condemned a terrorist attack in the southeastern city of Kerman that killed and wounded hundreds of people, vowing that those responsible for the cowardly act will be identified and punished.
