DUBAI: It was Peshawar Zalmi youngsters’ show today, they rocked the crowd, giving their team a thumping 43-run win against Islamabad United in the fourth game of the HBL PSL 2018.
The game was played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Zalmi learnt from the mistakes they had made in their first game on Thursday against Multan Sultans.
From openers blazing to youngsters firing, it was executed exactly as planned.
Islamabad’s standing-in captain Ruman Raees asked Zalmi to bat first after winning the toss.
The decision backfired as Peshawar posted 176 runs on board. Kamran Akmal smashed a brilliant 28-ball fifty, followed by Tamim Iqbal’s 39. Hafeez also chipped in with his 30 runs.
When Islamabad started their inning, they lacked the firepower Zalmi openers had.
With debutant young fast bowler Umaid Asif’s destructive spell, Zalmi strangled United early on. He removed four top-order batsmen, taking 4-23 in his spell.
It could have been a five-for for him on debut had Tamim Iqbal held on to the catch on the last ball of his spell.
Ibtisam struck again in 11th and 13th overs to remove dangerous Andre Russel and Sumit Patel for 2 and 23 respectively. He ended with figures of 3-20 in his four.
Fahim Ashra (54) showed some resistance down the order, all in vain.
Islamabad United got to 142/9, falling 34 runs short of the target.
