CHRISTCHURCH: India have humiliated Pakistan in the second semifinal of the ICC Under19 Cricket World at the Christchurch, New Zealand.
In response to India’s daunting 272-run target, Pakistan bundled out on just 69 runs, handing India an emphatic 203-run win.
The three-time winner will face also the three-time champions in the final on February 3.
Indian skipper Prithvi Shaw won the toss and elected to bat.
With his 41-run inning from the top set the tone for a big score. One-down batsman Subman Gill converted his quick fifty into a magnificent hundred to post a respectable total of 272/9.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Musa took 4 wickets to disturb India’s scoring rate.
The task proved to be too steep for Pakistan to overcome in the presence of India’s pace battery and a spin troika. From 20-3, Team Green took only 29.3 overs, to sum up, their pursuit, slumping down to 69 runs.
India’s third seamer, Ishan Porel walked away with a four-wicket haul, restricting Pakistan their lowest in the tournament’s history.
This is India U19’s biggest win in terms of runs against Pakistan U19.
