KABUL: Commander of the banned militant outfit Hizbul Ahrar, Jehad Yar Mehsud has been killed in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on Thursday, reports say.
Jehad Yar was a close aide of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)’s head Hakimullah Mehsud.
Hakimullah is told be behind the assassination of Pakistani politician Benazir Bhutto back in 2007.
Jehad Yar had joined Hizbul Ahrar group after separation from Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, both groups are factions of TTP.
Commander Jehad Yar Mehsud along with his companion Commander Aleem Khan was killed in a clash between Jamat-ul-Ahrar and Hizbul Ahrar in the village Ghosta Khuga Khel of Nangarhar province.
Ahmad Momand, the main commander of the banned group Jammat-ul- Ahrar also got injured in the fight.
