Trump claims he will investigate Google for ‘treasonous’ China ties

The US President has suggested Google might be working treasonously with China and claimed he would look into the matter.

Donald Trump made announcement after billionaire Peter Thiel accused the search giant of committing treason.

Trump tweeted that Thiel is a “great and brilliant guy who knows this subject better than anyone! The Trump Administration will take a look!”

It follows a speech given by Peter Thiel, who donated over $1.25 million to Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign , in which the billionaire tech investor said that Google’s work with the Chinese government should be investigated by the CIA and the FBI.

MR Thiel also questioned why Google had made “the seemingly treasonous decision to work with the Chinese military” but not that of the US.

According to a report, Thiel said Google was “engaged in the seemingly treasonous decision to work with the Chinese military and not with the US military.”

However, Google has denied such ties. But the tech firm has yet to respond to the President’s intervention.

In a tweet, Donald Trump described Mr Thiel as a “great and brilliant guy who knows this subject better than anyone”.
