ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) has bagged a major chunk of seats in the Senate Elections 2018, Pakistani media reported.
In the Senate elections held today for all four provinces and Federally Administered Tribal Areas(FATA) collectively 133 candidates were contesting for the 55 Senate seats.
Of these 133 contestants 20 candidates were competing for 12 seats from Punjab, 33 were competing for the 12 seats from Sindh, 26 were competing for the 11 seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 25 were competing for the 11 seats from Balochistan, 24 were competing for the four seats from FATA and five were competing for the two seats from the federal capital.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) formerly had 18 Senate seats.
Based on unofficial results PML-N has won all 12 seats from Punjab Assembly.
While the total number of candidates aligned with PML-N now holding Senate seats are 40.
Pakistan People’s Party(PPP) formerly had eights seats in the Senate. According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, seven of their candidates received enough votes to attain senate seats from Sindh. Whereas, MQM’s Barrister Farogh Naseem and PML-Functional Muzaffar Shah won 2 general seats.
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) formerly had six seats in the Senate. An additional six of their candidates received enough votes to attain seats from the 11 Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Muttahida Qoumi Movement(MQM) formerly had four seats in the Senate. MQM’s Barrister Farogh Naseem received enough votes to attain a Senate seat from Sindh.
Jamat ul Islami- (JUI-F) formerly had two seats. None of their candidates received enough votes to attain a Senate seat from.
Awami National Party(ANP) formerly had one seat in the Senate. None of their candidates received enough votes to attain a Senate seat from.
Pakhtunkhwa Mili Awami Party(PkMAP) formerly had three seats in the Senate. None of their candidates received enough votes to attain a Senate seat this time.
