LAHORE: A group of clerics in Pakistan has declared horse trading Haram as per Sharia Law.
An organization of political and non-political religious parties named the Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) issued a fatwa on Tuesday.
As per the religious edict issued by MYC clerics, selling of votes against money or other benefits is prohibited and Haram.
The fatwa has come in the wake of reports of alleged horse-trading of over 3 billion rupees during the March 3 Senate election in the country
The group urged the country’s Election Commission to take notice of the reports about votes’ sale in recently-held Senate elections and demanded a stern action against those involved in the corrupt practice.
The MYC is a non-political alliance of political and non-political religious parties formed in 1995 for the purpose of creating religious and sectarian harmony among followers of different sects.
The Alliance was formed in the backdrop of 90’s sectarian violence and killing in different areas of the country.
