Pakistan Observes Black Day on Indian Independence Day

As Indian forces further tightened the strict clampdown in held Kashmir ahead of its independence day

Pakistan and on both sides of the Line of Control, observed the Indian Independence Day as a black day to register a strong protest against the continued forced illegal occupation of a large part of the Jammu and Kashmir State by India.

Pakistan expressed solidarity with the people of the disputed territory in the wake of the humanitarian crisis that has developed there following 10 consecutive days of curfew and communications blockade.

The black day was observed by flying the national flag at half-mast and staging rallies across the country and was marked with anti-India protest rallies in all small and major towns across the country and liberated territory of Pakistan administered Kashmir.

The decision to mark India’s independence day as black day was taken at the National Security Commi­tee meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
