FIA arrests man from Karachi accused of operating over 50 ISIS social media pages
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s premier investigation agency has arrested suspected social media operatives affiliated with global terrorist organization, ISIS (Daesh), from Karachi on Tuesday.
According to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) source, a person known by his first name “Imran” aka Saif-ul-Islam Khilafati had been operating the social media of terrorist organization from Karachi and to attract young people on social media.
The ISIS-linked operative had been targeting and brainwashing youths who had joined the social media account.
Police in Karachi recovered a Daesh flag, a laptop, internet devices and mobile phones during the raid. One of Imran’s accomplices has already been arrested, the officials said.
According to the investigators, the arrested man had been operating more than 50 social media pages to lure youth for terrorism purposes. The police are expected to present the detained man before the court.
FIA has hinted that seral other persons also linked with social media and who had joined the Twitter and Facebook of ISIS-linked men in Pakistan may soon be apprehended by investigators.
Meanwhile, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Balochistan has killed four suspected terrorists in Chaman area on Tuesday and recovered huge quantities of explosives, weapons and hand grenades.
