Pakistan army appointed it’s first female Lieutenant General after promoting Nigar Johar Khan to the corresponding rank, confirmed the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department of Pakistan.
In a tweet Tuesday June 30th, the ISPR department of Pakistan confirmed the promotion of Nigar Johar Khan to the rank of Lieutenant General, thus becoming the first ever female in history to get to the rank. She has also been appointed as the first female Surgeon General of the Pakistan Army, tweeted further.
In 2017, she became the third woman officer to reach the rank of major general.
The Lieutenant General was born in Panjpir village in Swabi district to a Pashtun family. She is the daughter of Col Qadir, who served in the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
