DUBAI: Multan Sultans have beaten Peshawar Zalmi by 19 runs in the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2018) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, UAE on Tuesday night.
Peshawar Zalmi’s stand-in captain Mohammad Hafeez won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Multan openers provided a strong start to the team with Ahmed Shehzad run-a-ball 36 followed by Kumar Sangakkara’s quick 28.
Sohaib Maqsood built on the platform provided by the top order and with seven huge sixes, he remained unbeaten with 81 runs off just 42 balls.
The target was 184 runs for Peshawar Zalmi, a huge one on a slow Dubai pitch and with long boundaries.
Zalmi had a shaky start of the big chase. They lost three quick wickets, but then Hafeez and Wessels added 49 runs for the fourth wicket. Wessels (22) fell early but Hafeez (56) continued with Liam Dawson (32) to take the score closer.
Both fell in the hunt of the target one after the other in the 18th and 19th over.
Multan won it by 19 runs, in the end, restricting Zalmi to 164/7 after 20 overs.
Sohaib Maqsooq was picked the player of the match for his blistering inning.
