Lahore Qalandars’ Poor Run Continues in PSL

DUBAI: Another game, another defeat for Lahore Qalandars in the HBL PSL 2018.

It was a different day, different opponent, but same fortune, same batting collapse, same dismal performance.

Lahore Qalandars lost again, their second consecutive defeat in two days. This time against Quetta Gladiators.

Quetta Gladiators skipper Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Lahore’s captain Brandon McCullum came to open the inning with Sunil Narine.

Both started the inning aggressively, smashing bowlers all over the park. Quetta were 60/0 in 5 overs when Narine (30) and McCullum (29) fell back to back.

Left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz inflicted another collapse with his magical spell of 4-2-4.

No batsmen could stand Quetta bowlers as they slumped to 119/9 after their 20 overs.

Gladiators had a small total to chase.

Their openers Shane Watson and Asad Shafiq started blazing right from the first over with Watson hitting Raza Hassan out of the park on the last ball.

He only dealt in fours and sixes to complete a 27-ball fifty. When he got out on his 66, Gladiators 92/1 in 12 overs and only needed 28 runs to win.

Shafiq (388) scored a couple of boundaries in the next over with newcomer Umar Amin (9*) complimenting him with the same in 14th over to end the game in style.

Gladiators won by 9 wickets with 36 balls to spare.
