‘Laal Kabootar’ Wins Best Feature at Tasveer South Asian Film Festival

Pakistani movie “Laal Kabootar”  has added yet another feather to its cap as it brought home an award from the Tasveer South Asian Film Festival.

After becoming Pakistan’s entry to the Oscars and earning Ahmed Ali Akbar a win at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival, the film bagged Best Feature Film through the TSAFF’s Archana Soy Audience Choice Awards.

Tasveer South Asian Film Festival is the largest South Asian film festival in the United States, where filmmakers and audiences engage in lively discussions, forums and other collaborative interactive formats.

Last month, Ahmed Ali Akbar bagged the award for ‘Best Actor’ at Washington DC South Asian Film Festival for his performance in the movie.

A collaboration of Geo Films and Nehr Ghar Films, Laal Kabootar directed by Kamal Khan features Adeel Nawaz as Ahmed Ali Akbar, a taxi-driver bent on moving from Karachi to Dubai, and Mansha Pasha as Aliya Malik, a strong-willed woman whose world turns upside down in a series of unexpected events.

The movie is also Pakistan’s official selection for the upcoming Academy Awards, Oscars 2020.
