SHARJAH: A match-winning 48 runs inning by Kevin Pietersen has brought the second win for the two-time finalist Quetta Gladiators in the HBL PSL 2018 Wednesday night at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Quetta skipper Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to bowl first.
His brilliant captaincy moves complimented by the bowlers kept Misbah-led Islamabad United to 134/7 after 20 overs.
Misbah, who was playing his first game of the league, seemed a little off colour.
Fall of wickets at regular interval hurt the tempo of Islamabad United, Luke Ronchi had provided early on with his blistering 43-run inning.
No batsmen but Fahim Ashraf (21) and Misbah (22) resisted Quetta bowlers for long down the order.
Quetta, in response to 134, took a flying start, but then lost the plot, losing 3 wickets inside 8 runs.
Kevin Pietersen (48) and Mohammad Nawaz (25) rebuilt the inning from the scratch to take it to winning stand. Though KP fell 17 runs early from the victory, he had done his job.
Sarfraz Ahmed (7) scored the final boundary to finish it in style.
