RAWALPINDI: Islamabad Region has defeated Rawalpindi Region by 13 runs in the thrilling encounter in the second semi-final of Regional One Day Cup at Rawalpindi.
With this emphatic win, they have qualified for the final of the tournament, which is scheduled to be played on Sunday, February 11.
Islamabad will meet Karachi Whites in the finals.
Rawalpindi won the toss and elected to bat first. A decision well made, as supported by their batsmen.
Shan Masood smashed unbeaten 182 runs off 153 balls along with Babar Azam’s 136 off 106 balls to take the team’s total to 380 for the loss of just two wickets.
Rawalpindi stumbled in the chase early, losing three quick wickets, but a significant inning of 123 runs from Iftikhar Ahmed followed by Saud Shakeel’s 70 off 62 and then Umair Masood’s 52 put up a fight.
However, Rawalpindi could only score 367/9 and fell 13 runs short of what could have been a memorable win.
