IED Blast in Kurram Agency Kills Eight of a Family

KURRAM AGENCY: The Political administration has confirmed the death of eight people including five women in a roadside blast near Pak-Afghan Border on Tuesday morning.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bomb went off in village Maqbal, in Ghauz Garhi area of Upper Kurram Agency, killing eight people of the same family were killed in the incident, while one was injured.

According to a political agent, nine members of a family were travelling on a Corolla Motorcar. They were on their way to attend a funeral when the blast took place, killing eight of them on the spot. The only injured man was shifted to nearby hospital.

Such blasts have become a regular occurrence in the area.

A number of soldiers and civilians have lost their lives last year.

In October 2017, four security officials, including a captain were martyred in an IED blast in Kharlachi, Kurram Agency.

No one has claimed the responsibility, but the administration believes it was a terror attack.
