{"id":9870,"date":"2019-09-25T11:41:25","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T06:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=9870"},"modified":"2019-09-25T11:41:25","modified_gmt":"2019-09-25T06:41:25","slug":"eight-newborn-babies-killed-in-algerian-hospital-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/9870","title":{"rendered":"Eight Newborn Babies Killed in Algerian Hospital Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eight newborn babies, including a\u00a0 pair of twins, died Tuesday in a hospital fire in southeastern Algeria, according to local media.<\/p>\n<div id=\"icerikDiv_38371792\">\n<p>The fire broke out in the maternity wing of the hospital in the town of El Oued Souf, 500 kilometers (360 miles) southwest of the capital Algiers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph speakable\">&#8220;Sources say that the newly-born babies were completely burnt and are difficult to identify,&#8221; the station reported.<\/div>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\">According to the Civil Protection Directorate, the newborns died from burns and smoke inhalation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\">It added that 11 babies, 37 women and 28 employees were rescued after the blaze broke out at 3:52 a.m., as &#8220;tens&#8221; of fire trucks and ambulances raced to the scene.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Nearly 140 people were saved from the fire by emergency services.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Health Minister Mohamed Miraoui said the blaze had been caused by a short circuit in a mosquitoes repellent device.
