{"id":9733,"date":"2019-09-23T11:10:36","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T06:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=9733"},"modified":"2019-09-23T11:10:55","modified_gmt":"2019-09-23T06:10:55","slug":"see-who-took-home-an-emmy-award-last-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/9733","title":{"rendered":"See Who Took Home an Emmy Award 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Game of Thrones<\/em> resurrected the Iron Throne at Sunday\u2019s Emmy ceremony, ruling as top drama on a night of surprises.\u00a0 While\u00a0 <em>Pose<\/em> star Billy Porter made history and the comedy series\u00a0 \u00a0<em>Fleabag<\/em>\u00a0led a British invasion that overturned expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Game of Thrones won the night&#8217;s most prestigious prize &#8211; best drama &#8211; despite the eighth and final series receiving a mixed response from fans and critics.<\/p>\n<p>One of the HBO fantasy&#8217;s stars, Peter Dinklage, also took home the prize for best supporting drama actor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Amazon\u2019s\u00a0 <em>Fleabag<\/em>, a dark comedy about a dysfunctional woman, was honoured as best comedy and earned writing and top acting honors for its British creator and star, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, as well as a best director trophy.<\/p>\n<p>It was the only honour for the acclaimed Netflix series of the evening; <em>Chernobyl<\/em>\u00a0won the best limited series honour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is getting ridiculous,\u201d Waller-Bridge said in her third trip to the stage to collect the top trophy.<\/p>\n<p>The auditorium erupted in cheers when Jharrel Jerome of\u00a0<em>When They See Us<\/em>, about the Central Park Five case , won the best actor award for a limited series movie.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Hader won his second consecutive best comedy actor award for the hit man comedy\u00a0<em>Barry<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ozark<\/em>\u00a0star Julia Garner won the best supporting drama actress trophy against a field including four actresses from\u00a0<em>Game of Thrones.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>HBO retained its durable front-runner status with the help of\u00a0<em>Game of Thrones<\/em> record-tying 12 wins. The channel had a total of 34 awards.<\/p>\n<p>While Netflix collected 27 awards and Amazon nabbed 15.
