Police said they believed she was away from the vehicle for several hours prior to calling 911.<\/p>\n<p>Fire and rescue crews responded and declared the child dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 baby sitter, Tammy Brooks, was being held at the Hobbs County Detention Center on a first-degree felony charge of abandonment or abuse of a child that resulted in death.<\/p>\n<p>The accident marks the 42nd case of a child dying of\u00a0heat exhaustion in ovenlike cars\u00a0nationally in 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday, a 2-year-old was found dead in a hot car in Hobbs after being left there for several hours by a babysitter, according to the Hobbs Police Department.
