{"id":9166,"date":"2019-09-09T10:38:06","date_gmt":"2019-09-09T05:38:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=9166"},"modified":"2019-09-09T10:38:06","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T05:38:06","slug":"palestinian-detainee-dies-in-israeli-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/9166","title":{"rendered":"Palestinian detainee dies in Israeli prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Palestinian detainee held in Israel died on Sunday due to medical negligence, according to a local NGO.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bassam al-Saysh, 47, died in the Israeli hospital of Assaf Harofeh after he was transferred from Israeli prison due to his medical condition,&#8221; the Palestinian Prisoner Society said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Sayah was suffering from bone cancer, acute leukemia and heart problems.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Sayah was arrested in 2015 as he was attending his wife&#8217;s trial session and was charged along with his wife with involvement in the killing of an Israeli officer in the West Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Palestinian Ministry of Health accused Israel of killing al-Sayah due to medical negligence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the crime of medical negligence against the prisoners continues, al-Sayah will not be the last,&#8221; it warned.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to &#8220;break their silence and protect the Palestinian prisoners, especially those who are suffering from serious medical conditions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Around 221 Palestinian detainees are estimated to have died in Israeli prisons since 1967, some of whom had passed away shortly after being released from detention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Palestinian detainee held in Israel died on Sunday due to medical negligence, according to a local NGO. &#8220;Bassam al-Saysh, 47, died in the Israeli hospital of Assaf Harofeh after he was transferred from Israeli prison due to his medical condition,&#8221; the Palestinian Prisoner Society said in a statement.
