The first blast destroyed a motorcycle as it passed a police checkpoint with two riders aboard.\u00a0 Two police officers were killed and a third Palestinian wounded.<\/p>\n
The second explosion, less than an hour later, killed another officer and wounded several people at a separate checkpoint.<\/p>\n
The authorities in Gaza did not specify the nature of the explosions.<\/p>\n
The Israeli military denied carrying out an air strike, and Palestinian witnesses at the scene told\u00a0 news agency AFP they had seen no aircraft overhead.<\/p>\n
The Israeli army accuses Hamas of not doing enough to contain its ally Islamic Jihad, which is considered close to Iran, an enemy of Israel.<\/p>\n
Since 2008, Israel has waged three wars on the Gaza Strip,\u00a0 killing thousands of people, mostly Palestinian civilians.<\/p>\n
