{"id":8601,"date":"2019-08-27T11:35:14","date_gmt":"2019-08-27T06:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=8601"},"modified":"2019-08-27T11:35:51","modified_gmt":"2019-08-27T06:35:51","slug":"pilot-dies-in-spanish-air-force-plane-crash-in-mediterranean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/8601","title":{"rendered":"Pilot dies in Spanish Air Force plane crash in Mediterranean"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"el__leafmedia el__leafmedia--sourced-paragraph\">\n<p>The pilot of a Spanish Air Force plane that crashed this morning in the Mediterranean Sea, in front of the seaside spit La Manga del Mar Menor, in Murica, has died, according to the Defense Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>An emergency team located the remains \u2013 which are still pending forensic testing \u2013 of Commander Francisco Mar\u00edn N\u00fa\u00f1ez, who was the only crew member on board.<\/p>\n<p>Although initial reports suggested there could have been two pilots on the aircraft, the Defense Ministry confirmed that there was only one instructor on board, who died in the accident despite having ejected.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency services from Murcia searched for the pilot in the Mediterranean Sea, near kilometer 4 of La Manga.<\/p>\n<p>The C-101 model, manufactured by the Spanish company CASA, is known in the military as an E-25 Mirlo and is used for advanced basic training at the Air Force.<\/p>\n<p class=\"zn-body__paragraph speakable\">On Monday, seven people were killed when a helicopter and a small plane collided in the air above the Spanish island of Mallorca, authorities said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\">&#8220;The cause of the crash is still totally unclear,&#8221; the company said in a press release.<\/div>\n<div class=\"zn-body__paragraph\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The pilot of a Spanish Air Force plane that crashed this morning in the Mediterranean Sea, in front of the seaside spit La Manga del Mar Menor, in Murica, has died, according to the Defense Ministry.
