China expressed serious concern about the current situation in India-hled Jammu and Kashmir region, saying its \u201cposition on the Kashmir issue is clear and consistent.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beijing opposed India’s decision to revoke the special status of Kashmir, a disputed region sandwiched among India, Pakistan and China, because it undermined China’s territorial sovereignty.<\/p>\n
“China is always opposed to India’s inclusion of the Chinese territory in the western sector of the China-India boundary into its administrative jurisdiction,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.<\/p>\n
India and China share a 2,673-mile (3,488-kilometer) long boundary called Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s Ladakh region which has a vast land mass with sparse population.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndia’s action is unacceptable and would not have any legal effect,\u201d Hua added.<\/p>\n
China urged India to be cautious on border issues and to strictly abide by the agreements reached by both countries in order to avoid any actions that would further complicate boundary issues, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
Responding to China\u2019s claims, Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said \u201cIndia does not comment on the internal affairs of other countries and similarly expects other countries to do likewise.”<\/p>\n
