Thousands of people have started leaving Indian-administered Kashmir after the local government issued a security alert related to possible armed attacks in the area, a senior government official said.<\/p>\n
The security officials claimed that they had intelligence reports of likely attacks on the routes used by devout Hindus.<\/p>\n
The official did not give a specific number, but said most of the 20,000 Hindu pilgrims and Indian tourists – and more than 200,000 labourers – were leaving the region.<\/p>\n
About 60 international tourists arrived in Kashmir on Saturday, however, the official said.<\/p>\n
Germany, the United Kingdom and israel warned their citizens against travelling to Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
“Travellers staying in Kashmir (especially the Kashmir Valley and the Amarnath Yatra Pilgrimage Route) are advised to leave Jammu and Kashmir,” the German ministry of foreign affairs said.<\/p>\n
According to a report, Indian aviation authorities told airlines to prepare to operate additional flights from Srinagar to bring back pilgrims and tourists.<\/p>\n
Indian Army on Saturday, claimed that at least seven militants were killed as it foiled a Border Action Team (BAT) action by Pakistan in Keran sector of north Kashmir\u2019s Kupwara district.<\/p>\n
A Pakistani defense spokesperson dismissed India\u2019s assertions as \u201cmere propaganda\u201d, calling them \u201cblatant lies\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Pakistani Foreign Minister has voiced concern in letters to the United Nations Secretary General and the presidents of the Security Council and the General Assembly, it said.<\/p>\n
