{"id":7480,"date":"2019-08-03T12:56:37","date_gmt":"2019-08-03T07:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=7480"},"modified":"2019-08-03T12:56:37","modified_gmt":"2019-08-03T07:56:37","slug":"facebook-bans-saudi-arabia-linked-propaganda-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/7480","title":{"rendered":"Facebook bans Saudi Arabia-linked propaganda accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The social network suspended more than 350 different accounts and pages with about 1.4 million followers in an ongoing effort to combat &#8220;coordinated inauthentic behavior&#8221; on its platform.It is the first such activity which is linked to the Saudi government.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook says it has discovered that people linked to the Saudi authorities have been using its platforms to spread propaganda through fake accounts.<\/p>\n<p>It further says the operation mainly targeted the Middle East and North Africa, and most of the content was in Arabic.<\/p>\n<p>Countries in the Middle East have increasingly turned to websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Google&#8217;s YouTube to peddle covert political influence online.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi Arabia has repeatedly denied any involvement in Khashoggi&#8217;s death and not responded to previous allegations about its activity on social media.
