{"id":6543,"date":"2019-07-14T12:22:04","date_gmt":"2019-07-14T07:22:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/?p=6543"},"modified":"2019-07-14T12:22:04","modified_gmt":"2019-07-14T07:22:04","slug":"russia-launches-space-telescope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vosa.tv\/eng\/archives\/6543","title":{"rendered":"Russia launches space telescope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Russian Proton-M rocket successfully delivered a cutting-edge space telescope into orbit Saturday after days of launch delays, Russia\u2019s space agency<\/p>\n<p>the telescope, named Spektr-RG, was delivered into a parking orbit before a final burn Saturday that kicked the spacecraft out of Earth\u2019s orbit and on to its final destination: the L2 Lagrange point.<\/p>\n<p>Lagrange points are unique positions in the solar system where objects can maintain their position relative to the sun and the planets that orbit it. Located 1.5 million kilometers (0.93 million miles) from Earth, L2 is particularly ideal for telescopes such as Spektr-RG.<\/p>\n<p>If all goes well, the telescope will arrive at its designated position in three months, becoming the first Russian spacecraft to operate beyond Earth\u2019s orbit since the Soviet era.
