NEWYORK: The South Asian community has announced its full support for Attorney General Letitia James in the upcoming mid-term elections in New York.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Letitia James expressed her confidence that the Democrats will secure a majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in this election.<\/p>\n

A special event titled “South Asians for Letitia James”\u2014organized by the Muslims Vote Project\u2014was held on Coney Island Avenue in support of New York State Attorney General Letitia James.<\/p>\n

The guest of honor, Attorney General Letitia James, received a warm welcome upon her arrival, with participants chanting slogans in her favor and wishing her success in the election.<\/p>\n

The event was moderated by Sahibzada Shabbir Ahmed, who introduced the guests and welcomed them to the gathering.<\/p>\n

Head of the social organization ‘Council of Peoples Organization,’, Mohammad Rizvi said that Letitia James stood firmly by the Muslim community following the 9\/11 attacks.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the community does not want the new generation to endure the same fear and sense of insecurity experienced in the past; therefore, it is essential that everyone contributes to ensuring Letitia James’s victory.<\/p>\n

Pakistani-American community leader Iram Hanif, along with Mohibba Ahmed and Khadija, also shared their thoughts.<\/p>\n

The speakers emphasized that these elections hold even greater significance than the mayoral race. They said that the success of Letitia James is essential for the protection of our rights. They urged the younger generation to become involved in local politics and the electoral process, noting that no change is possible otherwise.<\/p>\n

Attorney General Letitia James highlighted the importance of politics and elections. Addressing the participants, she remarked that a vote is a sacred trust held by every citizen and must not be wasted.<\/p>\n

She noted that Democratic voters are highly energized for the midterms, expressing full confidence that the Democrats will secure victories in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Sahibzada Shabbir Ahmed, Zakaria Khan, and Imam Ahmed Ali also spoke, underscoring the importance of the vote. The speakers asserted that our problems cannot be resolved unless we actively participate in politics and the electoral system.<\/p>\n

During the program, Letitia James interacted with participants and made pictures with them.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Pakistani American community leader Ashraf Azmi appealed the community to also support Joe Shinoblo who is running for the supervisor of the town of Hempstead.<\/p>\n

Joe Shinoblo said in his message that he spent a lot of time listening to the members of the Muslim community and heard their concerns about how community is treated and represented by local government.<\/p>\n

He said that his opponents stay silent when asked to speak out against Islamophobia however he will stand side by side with Muslim community to speak out against hate in all forms.<\/p>\n

He said that representation has to mean more than speaking out against hate and it should be means listening to concern, working together, solving problems together, and making sure your community has a seat at the table.<\/p>\n

He assured Muslim community he will work with them to support small businesses and build an economy that works for everyone. He said that he will ensure that the Pakistani and broader Muslim communities receive the attention and support they deserve, especially from town government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
