They said that polling hours were extended to allow those already in line at the scheduled closing time to cast their votes.

Participants chanted slogans in favor of Khalistan and demanded the right to self-determination to decide the political future of the Sikhs.

Later, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun outlined a future strategy in a video address. According to Pannun, his organization intends to launch a campaign on November 1st to register two million voters.

He highlighted three key pillars of this strategy: first, mobilizing support for the Khalistan referendum across various countries; second, supporting anti-government political and youth movements within India; and third, exerting international economic pressure on India.

Pannun also called for the accountability of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Indian officials.

Citing the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, he leveled accusations against the Indian government; during the event, slogans were raised in support of Khalistan and against the Indian Prime Minister.

Furthermore, Pannun urged Sikh youth to get training within the bounds of the law and to join a proposed ‘Sikh Homeland Security Force.’

According to the organizers, the next phase of the Khalistan referendum is planned to take place in Australia in March 2027.

While the voting phase in Edmonton has concluded, the organizers intend to continue their campaign on a global scale.

It remains to be seen how much public and political support this campaign will garner in the future, and what stances India, Canada, and other nations will adopt regarding it.

EDMONTON, CANADA: More than 23,000 people cast their votes in a ‘Khalistan Referendum’ held in the Canadian city of Edmonton.
