DETROIT: Over 20,000 participants from US and Canada attended the 63rd annual convention of ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) which was held in Detroit.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event featured discussions on religious matters as well as critical global issues, including Islamophobia, religious freedom, mental health, climate change and the situations in Kashmir, Myanmar (Rohingya) and Palestine.<\/p>\n

The central message of this year’s convention was to remain steadfast, connect with one another, stay connected to God, and strengthen each other to achieve true prosperity.<\/p>\n

According to ISNA CEO Azhar Azeez, the organization had last held its annual convention in Detroit in 2014.<\/p>\n

He noted that ISNA has a large number of members and supporters in Detroit and the state of Michigan, making the return of the convention to the city a long-held desire.<\/p>\n

More than 150 speakers addressed various topics at this year’s convention. They engaged in detailed discussions regarding religious and spiritual matters, as well as contemporary challenges facing the American Muslim community.<\/p>\n

Issues such as Islamophobia, anti-Muslim hate speech, religious freedom, and the community’s future were focal points. Prominent figures also addressed the convention, including Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, a Democratic candidate for the Senate from Michigan, and Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud.<\/p>\n

Renowned scholars, intellectuals, community leaders, and social activists\u2014including Sheikh Hammad Mustafa Al-Madani Al-Qadri\u2014participated in various sessions.<\/p>\n

The convention featured special programs tailored for youth, women, and professionals.<\/p>\n

The event lineup included a major Muslim marketplace, an art exhibition, a film festival, a women’s fashion show, a photography exhibition, a Quran recitation competition, and a marital counseling conference.<\/p>\n

Health-related trade shows and special sessions on leadership and for young professionals were also organized. The ISNA annual gathering went beyond religious topics to address critical issues facing the Muslim community and the world at large.<\/p>\n

Speakers shared their views on a range of international and social matters, including mental health, climate change, and the conflicts in Kashmir, Myanmar (Rohingya), and Palestine.<\/p>\n

Special awards were presented to recognize long-standing service to the community, during the Community Service Recognition Luncheon held on the second day.<\/p>\n

Imam Mohamed Magid was honored with the ISNA Lifetime Achievement Award, while Dr. Ghaus Malik received the ISNA President’s Award.<\/p>\n

ISNA has been serving the Muslim community across various sectors for several decades. The organization actively works to unite and strengthen the Muslim community through initiatives such as annual conventions, youth programs, interfaith activities, chaplaincy services, mosque support, scholarships, the Islamic Horizons magazine, webinars, and other projects.<\/p>\n

During the closing session of the three-day convention, Nasheed singers, hip-hop artists, and stand-up comedians took the stage. As the entertainment program began, the audience enthusiastically appreciated the performers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
